Privacy

Pwani 2050 is a public plan written in the open. This page says what we keep about you when you read it, contribute to it or sign in to the Collab Studio, and what we do with it.

Reading

You can read this site and the Collab Studio without an account. Our servers keep ordinary request logs (address, time, page asked for) to run and protect the service. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share what we hold.

Your Collab Studio account

When you create an account we keep your username, a securely hashed password, and your email address if you give one. Email is used to confirm your account, reset a forgotten password and send the notifications you choose, such as changes to pages you watch. It is not shown to other people.

If you choose Continue with Google, Google tells us your name, your email address and an identifier for your Google account, and nothing else. We use them only to sign you in and to name your account; your account takes your real name, so your contributions are credited to you. We never see your Google password and we cannot read anything else in your Google account.

What you contribute is public

The Collab Studio is a wiki. Every edit, comment, upload and approval is published with your username and the time it was made, and stays in the page history. Approved pages are republished on this site with their contributors named. Content is licensed CC BY-SA 4.0, so others may reuse it with credit. Please do not post other people's personal information.

Ideas and questions

Ideas posted to the idea board are public. If you leave an email address there, we use it only to tell you what happens to the ideas and to invite you to help shape Pwani 2050, and only if you agree. Questions asked of the librarian are not stored with your name. Ideas and questions are processed by an AI model run for us by a third-party provider, which handles them on our behalf and does not use them for advertising.

Your choices

You can change your email or notification settings in your Collab Studio preferences at any time. To have your email removed, your account closed or your account renamed, write to [email protected]. Because the wiki is a public record, edits already made remain in the page history under the account's name, but we can rename the account so it no longer identifies you.
